Read About Ceramics

There is nothing like the tactile experience of handmade ceramics. Holding an artist's work in your palms as you sip your favorite beverage, feeling the imperfect bumps and crevices. We are excited to continue to showcase local artists as a part of connecting with the community, and offering unique, limited edition pieces. Cathy Terepocki drew us in for her own harvesting of clay. Like matcha, the journey from harvest to a finished product involves many steps, and how these are done greatly influence the final piece. The slower and more hands on, the better. Cathy’s work as an artist starts before the wheel. Her craft is largely inspired by her backyard of forest and rivers in Chilliwack.

We designed a matcha bowl, matcha cup, and whisk holder together. Each piece is stamped with the coordinates of where the clay was harvested. We love each unique piece for transporting us into the nature of where they were created. Each bowl and cup vary slightly from their imperfect shape, to the pebbles left inside to honor the natural clay. Just as matcha grounds us, we wanted to offer pottery that transports one back to earth.
