Aikenka Bamboo Matcha Whisk
$24.00 CAD
The bamboo whisk, known as a "chasen" in Japanese, holds significant importance in the traditional tea ceremony.
It is the best way to blend your matcha for:
- Whisking Technique: Matcha is a powdered tea, and to properly mix it with water, a vigorous whisking technique is required. The chasen's unique shape and fine bristles are specifically designed to create a frothy, smooth consistency without leaving clumps of powder.
- Texture and Flavor: Whisking with a bamboo whisk helps to achieve the ideal texture and flavor of matcha. The process aerates the tea, enhancing its flavor profile and creating a creamy, velvety texture that is characteristic of high-quality matcha.
How to care for your whisk
- Before using your chasen for the first time, soak the whisk in hot water for 10-15 minutes to unfurl the tips.
- Afterwards, before each use, soak the matcha whisk in hot water for 1-2 minutes before whisking to soften the tines.
- After making matcha, rinse the chasen in clean water to remove excess matcha and dry it in a well-ventilated place or store on a kusenaoshi (whiskholder)
